Dr. Ozioma Okonkwo has been invited to 4 different speaking and session chairing opportunities in the coming months:
- On May 31, Dr. Monica Bertagnolli, NIH director, Dr. Joni Rutter, Director of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, and staff from Senator Tammy Baldwin’s Office visited UW’s campus. Dr. Okonkwo served as a panelist on a discussion about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
- On July 27, Dr. Okonkwo will serve as a panelist in the session “Neuroimaging in ADRD: Reflecting on 20 years of progress to design better studies in 2024 and beyond” at the Alzheimer’s Imaging Conference (AIC), which is a component of the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) 2024 in Philadelphia.
- On July 28, Dr. Okonkwo will serve as the Session Chair for the session titled, “Neurodegenerative Diseases: Clinical Diagnosis & Staging” at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) 2024 in Philadelphia.
- On Aug 1, Dr. Okonkwo will be an invited speaker in the session titled, “AAIC 2024 Highlights” for community members at the inaugural “AAIC for All” event at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) 2024 in Philadelphia.
In addition, Dr. Okonkwo has been selected as a mentor and instructor on an innovative NIH funded D43 training program titled, ‘Building Brain Health Research Capacity in Rwanda: Neurocognition and Neurobehavior Across the Lifespan.’ This program will establish a neuroscience training program in Rwanda that will graduate 8 PhDs and mentor 8 neurologists annually.
